 The four-day 20th Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) state meet concluded today at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium. Thousands of activists took part in the Red volunteer march on the concluding day of the 20th CPM state conference transforming the city into a sea of red here on Friday.
The rally was organized in such a way that the participants started off in small rallies from different centers and then converge at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium, where the closing ceremonies will take place.
The day’s proceedings began with the Red Volunteer parade at 3pm with 25,000 participants. The volunteers, in two groups, proceeded simultaneously from Manjalikulam ground near the Ayurveda College and Manaveeyam Road near Vellayambalam towards the stadium.


The party workers and supporters then marched to the meeting place. These marches commenced from Chakkai, Thycaud, Kuravankonam, Manaveeyam Road and Overbridge near Ayurveda College.
According to the organisers, more than 1.5 lakh people took part in the rally. Art forms like pookavadi, theyyam, thira, panchavadyam and brass bands and floats also added colour to the rally.
